NOTES FROM RANDY
Another Tuesday, another page of The Jacket: One Vision!
So it came to my attention that last week, I never wrote a post for you all. The page went out, at the exact planned time, but without any words to accompany it. But you see, I DID write it…in my head. And if Jason has taught me anything about creating, thinking about it can be more than half the battle. While I was going to do a post-send write-up, I decided not to. Instead, I’m going to focus on moving on and talking about Penny.
Last time we saw Penny she was definitely not doing well. And now, we know why. This “price” of the items, as Mr. Huggins explains, is a drastic one for someone like Penny. It’s an exciting piece of the puzzle that we will dive into further, but for now, we’re one step closer to the cover of Chapter 4 becoming reality.
SUB ROSA
Originally, when we developed the character of Huggins (we colloquially refer to him as “Bluetooth” thanks to the bluetooth headset that NEVER leaves his ear…), we were in “fan cast” mode. What I mean is, we were casting a movie of The Jacket, if we could have ANYONE. At that time, The Hunger Games movies were just coming out. I saw Lenny Kravitz as Cinna, and I fan-casted him as Huggins.
I was born long ago
I am the chosen, I'm the one
I have come to save the day
And I won't leave until I'm doneSo that's why you've got to try
You got to breathe and have some fun
Though I'm not paid, I play this game
And I won't stop until I'm doneBut what I really want to know is
Are you gonna go my way?
And I got to, got to know
Because it isn’t just enough that song titles/ music might help spark ideas or feelings, but that lyrically the songs should also fit what we’re doing. And if it fits, it goes into our playlist on Spotify.
