NOTES FROM RANDY
So last week, I told you where the name Richwine comes from. And then Jason dropped that Minister Gradenko’s name is pulled straight from The Police’s “Miss Gradenko” song…which I probably should have guessed, but now I know for sure too.
This week, I wanted to mention referencing, in terms of art. I will say that when I write things, I do feel overwhelmed sometimes when I have to recall a previous thing to continue the story. Jason however, makes it look easy, though I’m sure it has taken a ton of practice. While writing is not my strong suit with (total) recall, there are VERY FEW things that I need to go back into the story to remember once I’ve drawn them. For some reason, the time spent on a drawing is just seared into my brain for almost everything.
Sure, characters have a changed a bit since the beginning. But that’s because I’ve learned a lot more now. In terms of character design, story interest, and just overall utility of a character’s outfit/ look.
BUT I’LL BE DAMNED if I could remember what arm Towser broke in Chapter 1.
And I *think* that is because we originally had it be his left arm, but it got changed in Chapter 1 when we did a little “refresh” of art before sending it to print. I’m hoping that if Jason is reading this, he can correct me if I’m wrong on that. But damn it if I could remember.
Lastly I wanted to mention, that even if Towser has changed a bit since his first chapter appearance, I FINALLY got him to a point that I love drawing him. He’s such a bastard, and we all know it. This scene will continue a bit and you’ll get to see just how much of a POS he is. And while sometimes it is fun to root for the villain, it is even better (for me) to draw them.
