NOTES FROM RANDY
So here we are again. Welcome back to Chapter 5 of The Jacket. Today we follow our lovable Agent 629 into a mysterious glass office that was just another of those points of conversation between Jason and I.
That glass office went through a couple versions, until we finally settled on this look. Nothing too crazy, as actually, it was much more boring before. I had mentioned to Jason that when I was drawing this page I was re-reading all of Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira. And while yes, I did read it, I also spent WAAAAYYYY too long looking at every panel of art. Otomo has a way of packing details into every space, large and small, and creating a very memorable Neo-Tokyo. I only wish that I could bring that kind of care to Diamond City. But as I learned from Otomo’s art, it always starts with the small things like this office. If you can make these details memorable, then the whole city starts to come alive.
So watch out for these touches moving forward, because I’m aiming to have them in as many scenes as I can without being too exhausting for the eyes.
Jason is back with Page 4 tomorrow, and I’ll talk to you all again next Wednesday!
